  1. Find your main shutoff now, before you need it. It's usually in a box near the curb or where the line enters the house.
  2. Shut off water. Turn off electricity in wet areas.
  3. Open faucets to drain pressure.
  4. Take photos and video for insurance.
  5. Remove standing water. Run fans and a dehumidifier.
  6. Call a licensed plumber for the pipe and a restoration company for big water damage.
  7. Call your insurer and keep receipts.

Monsoon and freeze notes

Monsoon storms can overload drains and cause power surges that affect equipment. On rare freezing nights, cover exposed hose bibs and backflow devices, especially in higher spots like Apache Junction and the foothills.
